Pune’s rapid urban growth has also created serious social and educational gaps in informal settlements. These gaps affect children, families, and the long-term strength of communities.
Infrastructure & Environment
Overcrowded housing, poor sanitation, and limited basic amenities create difficult living conditions for families in informal settlements.

Unemployment, substance abuse, and limited access to guidance weaken family stability and community confidence.

Many children lack a supportive learning environment, academic guidance, and value-based developmental support.

Vasti Vikas Yojana
Pune, known as Maharashtra’s cultural and educational hub, is also home to over 400 informal settlements. Nearly 30% of the city’s population lives in these communities and contributes significantly to the city’s labour force and economic growth.
Through the Community Development Initiative, LOKVIKAS SOCIAL FOUNDATION works to improve educational, social, healthcare, and livelihood conditions so that underserved families can move toward dignity, confidence, and mainstream participation.
